Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle riders face greater and unique risks while riding
It is estimated that between 1975 and 1999, more than 38,000 motorcyclists died in single vehicle crashes. However, during the same period of time, more than 255,000 crashes occurred with other vehicles resulting in injures. A motorcyclist is approximately 16 times more likely to die in an accident than a person driving or riding in an automobile. The same motorcyclist is 3 times more likely to be injured than a person in a car. We have handled numerous motorcycle accident cases.
It is no secret that cars and trucks pose the greatest danger to motorcyclists. It is our experience that clients who have been injured in motorcycle accidents typically suffer very serious injuries. Often, there is very little damage to the vehicle and tremendous damage to the motorcycle and rider. Our clients who have been in motorcycle accidents typically were thrown from their bikes and suffered broken bones head injuries.
Unfortunately, there is a stigma that many attach to motorcyclists. We often hear from people that motorcyclist somehow take their lives into their own hands if they choose to operate a motorcycle on Georgia's roads. Our firm takes a strong position against this illogical preconception. The duty a person operating a vehicle owes to a motorcyclist is no less than the duty owed to other pedestrians and other automobile drivers.
